This 9 days tour the Best of Eritrea enables visitors to discover the cultures and history of the country. It includes the visit to the historic towns of Adi Keyh, Adi Quala, Senafe, Ghindae, and Keren. In the south of Eritrea are found several ethnic groups with their own unique cultures. Besides, trekking in some of the country’s parks is one of the activities among many.

VISA & TRAVEL PERMIT

*All visitors need an Entry Visa. To get it before your arrival visit Eritrean Embassies in your home country. Only for those countries where there are no Eritrean Embassies can an entry visa be obtained on arrival at the airport in Asmara.

* Travel Permits is required for all foreign nationals who wish to leave the Asmara region. Travel permits are sought on the spot in Eritrea. The issuing of such a travel permit is handled by Adulis Travel. To obtain a travel permit, you will need to present a photocopy of your passport details and visa pages.

Check the vaccines and medicines list and visit your doctor at least a month before your trip to get vaccines or medicines you may need.

Day 01: Asmara city tour
Day 01: Asmara city tour

Arrive early in the morning in Asmara and our driver will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to your hotel.

In the afternoon we take a tour of Asmara. A guided tour will take you to some of the most interesting places in Asmara.

OVERNIGHT IN ASMARA, Crystal Hotel Or Similar

Day 02: Asmara - Keren - Asmara

The journey to Keren begins right after breakfast. Keren is the second-largest city, situated at 91 kilometers northwest of Asmara. The City is surrounded by mountains. It was built by the Italians because of its moderate climate.
Many visitors enjoy staying in Keren. The City is also well known for its Baobab Tree Temple. The majestic tree has stood for centuries and it is so graceful to watch it and pay respects. Visitors would also visit the Italian and Common Wealth war cemeteries.

Keren is well known for the fiercest battles that went on between the Commonwealth and the Italian forces in 1941. The fall of Keren in the hands of the Common Wealth advancing army signaled the end of an era of the Italian occupation in Eritrea.
Here concludes our visit to the Keren. Following a memorable stay in Keren, In the late afternoon return to Asmara.

Day 03: Asmara - Massawa

Drive to the Red Sea port of Massawa through Filfil- Solomuna road usually called the Green belt. The road initially built by the Italians as a weather road has been turned into a fine tarmac by the Government of Eritrea Visitors may feel as if they are driving above the clouds as they could apparently watch the clouds down the hill. Bird watching is glamorous in Filfil Solomuna Visitors can have a coffee break at Sabur or Medhanit.

Continuing the journey visitors will witness the desert plains before reaching the port city of Massawa.

Day 04: Massawa City Tour

Massawa enjoys a combination of Turkish and Italian Architects, an apparent indication of the Ottoman and Italian colonial history.There is, among others, an old Turkish Palace and the Modern Port built by the Titians at the turn of the 20th Century. A more than one thousand years mosque is still standing to this day. A great attraction to many visitors

Day 05: Massawa - Ghindae - Asmara

Morning boat trip to the uninhabited Green Island/Isola Verde, for a short walk, and the opportunity to swim. There may be some birdwatching possible on this little island. In the afternoon drive uphill while enjoying the magnificent scenery and lush vegetation all the way to Asmara, as time allows with stops on the way at interesting sites.

Day 06: Asmara - Adikeyh

A journey towards the South East of Asmara will take the visitors to Dekemhare, 40 kilometers, Segeneiti, 65 kilometers, AdiKeIH 115 kilometers.

Day 07: Adikkeih - Quhaito - Asmara

The archeological site of Qohaito is about 2.5 kilometers wide and 15 kilometers long. Qohaito was a major city in ancient Africa. It is estimated that the city was founded around fifth millennium BC (5000 BC to 4001 BC) and kept developing until 6th century A.D. Qohaito is believed to have a large amount of archeological objects hidden in its ground.
Visitors will enjoy the archaeological site in Qohaito. An ancient dam, traces of ancient palace, Rock paintings, and tombs. Included is also the breathtaking view of the Grand Canyon and in the evening we will drive back to Asmara

OVERNIGHT IN ADIKEIH

Day 08: Asmara - Adi Quala - Asmara

Early morning hours we will drive to the town of Mendefera. The town is dominated by two hills on either side of the main road. Among the things to see in Mendefera include the market, the ancient Mosque, and the old Saint George Church (San Giorgio Church).

Travel further to Adi Quala, a pleasant market town 32 km from Mendefera. It is covered with vegetation and a slew of agricultural plains, small stores, and cafes.

Day 09: Free day in Asmara

Free to discover Asmara in your leisure time. Transfer to airport for Departure.
