Asmara was the center of Italy’s East African Empire. Following Italy’s invasion of Ethiopia in 1935, Asmara became a boom town and transformed into one of the most modern cities in Africa. Today, it appears like a city lost in time and possessing the highest concentration and most complete collection of Modernist architecture in the world.

Places with we are going to visit under this 6 Days Trip Asmara, Keren & Massawa are:- Fiat Tagliero Building, Tank Graveyard, Opera House ( is one of Asmara’s most elegant early–20th-century buildings), Monday Camel Market in Keren (a market for livestock), Imperial Palace ( it was used as a winter palace by Emperor Haile Selassie during the federation with Ethiopia), and more other places.


*All visitors need an Entry Visa. To get it before your arrival visit Eritrean Embassies in your home country. Only for those countries where there are no Eritrean Embassies can an entry visa be obtained on arrival at the airport in Asmara.

* Travel Permits is required for all foreign nationals who wish to leave the Asmara region. Travel permits are sought on the spot in Eritrea. The issuing of such a travel permit is handled by Adulis Travel. To obtain a travel permit, you will need to present a photocopy of your passport details and visa pages.


Check the vaccines and medicines list and visit your doctor at least a month before your trip to get vaccines or medicines you may need.

Arrive early in the morning in Asmara and our driver will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to your hotel.

In the afternoon we take a tour of Asmara. A guided tour will take you to some of the most interesting places in Asmara.

After breakfast, our tour starts in Asmara and places around Asmara. Asmara inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List and the town called "Piccola Roma" (Little Rome) and architectural wonders described in many of its buildings such as the Roman Catholic Cathedral, St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Al Khulafa al Rashedin, Market (vegetable, spices), Medeber (recycling depot), National Museum, Fiat Tagliero Building, Tank Cemetery, etc.

Day 03: Asmara - Keren

After breakfast, travel via the major Asmara - Keren highway through the town of Serejeqa to the city of Keren.

Keren is the second-largest city in Eritrea. It is situated around 91 kilometers northwest of Asmara at an elevation of 1,390 meters above sea level. It has a moderate climate. The fine tarmac road, built by the Italians is like a hairpin curved out from mountainous plateaus.

Day 04: Keren - Massawa

The day starts by visiting the colorful Keren market is every Monday. The bustling market that comprises camel, livestock. Keren is well known for the fiercest battles that went on between the Commonwealth and the Italian forces in 1941. The fall of Keren in the hands of the Common Wealth advancing army signaled the end of Italian occupation in Eritrea. Visitors will also visit the Italian and Common Wealth war cemeteries, the famous Mariam Dearit temple curved out from a Baobab tree.
In the afternoon we leave Keren and heading to the Red Sea coast and the port city of Massawa - the pearl of the Red sea.

Day 05: Massawa City Tour

After breakfast, visit the port city of Massawa – City of islands and the ‘Pearl of the Red Sea’, a city which for centuries has been one of the region’s most important ports. With its exquisite Turkish-Egyptian-Italian style architecture and shopping arcades, beautiful mosques, and delicious seafood, Massawa is the perfect destination to cater to all tastes. In addition to the city’s attractions, pristine beaches and enjoyable swimming are available just a short distance from the city center.

Day 06: Massawa - Ghindae - Asmara
Day 06: Massawa - Ghindae - Asmara

Start early in the morning, boat trip to Green Island, the most accessible island from Massawa consisting of the beach and mangrove swamp.

In the afternoon drive uphill while enjoying the magnificent scenery and lush vegetation all the way to Asmara, as time allows with stops on the way at interesting sites.

Late in the evening transfer to airport for departure.
