Places with we are going to visit under this Explore Eritrea 4 Days Tour are:- The Aṣ-Ṣaḥābah Mosque, also called for the Mosque of the Companions, is a mosque in the city of Massawa, Eritrea. Dating to the early 7th century CE, it is believed to be the first mosque on the African continent. Camel Market in Keren (a market for livestock), Imperial Palace was used as a winter palace by Emperor Haile Selassie during Ethiopia’s federation and more other places.
Arrive in the morning hours in Asmara and our English speaking tour guide will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to our office to discuss the itinerary.
The trip to Massawa starts in the afternoon with a drive on the Massawa – Nefasit-Route from Asmara towards the east. You drive from 2400 meters above sea level to Massawa at sea level in about 3 hours. Visitors will experience three different climate zones along the way – cool, temperate, and hot. A short coffee break will be essential in Ghinday. Before we move on to Massawa.
OVERNIGHT IN MASSAWA, Grand Dahlak Hotel Or Similar
In the early morning, we drive about 70 km south of Massawa to the old port of Adulis. It is a river port that served as a center of trade between the highlands of Eritrea and Ethiopia and the surrounding areas in the rest of the country.
Zula is nearby. Both ports were at the center of the trade of the time, which was predominant in the Middle East. Then, already in the 7th century BC, civilizations developed. It is assumed that Adulis was a large city of that time. A small part of the city buried underneath today has been excavated, but there is still too much to see.
Following a memorable stay in Adulis, In the late afternoon return to Massawa.
OVERNIGHT IN MASSAWA, Grand Dahlak Hotel Or Similar
Start early in the morning, boat trip to Green Island, the most accessible island from Massawa consisting of the beach and mangrove swamp.
In the afternoon drive uphill while enjoying the magnificent scenery and lush vegetation all the way to Asmara, as time allows with stops on the way at interesting sites.
OVERNIGHT IN ASMARA, Crystal Hotel Or Similar
We leave Asmara early in the morning and drive north through the highlands, past a number of villages and towns to Keren 1392 meters above sea level.
I Keren we will visit places such as the famous Mariam Dearit in a baobab tree, the British and Italian World War II cemeteries, the old railway station from the 1930s, the Egyptian fortress Tigu from the 19th century, as well as the Romanesque church of St. Anthony and the old mosque. We leave Keren in the early evening and set off for Asmara.
Late in the evening transfer to airport for departure.

* Travel Permits is required for all foreign nationals who wish to leave the Asmara region. Travel permits are sought on the spot in Eritrea. The issuing of such a travel permit is handled by Adulis Travel. To obtain a travel permit, you will need to present a photocopy of your passport details and visa pages.
