Your first stop is Lake Assal, 155 m below sea level - the lowest point in Africa and one of the saltiest lakes on Earth, its blinding white salt crust ringing water of surreal turquoise; float effortlessly, then watch Afar caravans load salt slabs onto camels exactly as their ancestors did.
