Arrival in Juba
Arrive at your convenience in Juba, the capital city of South Sudan, with flights from several countries within Africa, from Dubai, and directly from Sudan. A pre-tour meeting takes place in the hotel lobby at 5:00pm to discuss the itinerary and meet your fellow travellers and your Adulis Travel guide. You can eat and have a drink at the AFEX camp by the Nile.

Juba to Mundari Camp
After breakfast at the hotel, visit Juba University, established in 1975 to provide higher education for the southern areas of Sudan - an excellent opportunity to meet some of South Sudan's most talented students. Discover Jubek's Tomb, honouring an important figure of the Bari community after whom the capital is named, and take a look at Konyo Konyo, the largest market in South Sudan, where the country's diverse ethnicities mix. In the afternoon, depart for the Mundari camp - the drive can take anywhere from 15 minutes to three hours, as the Mundari move their camp from place to place. Stop at small villages for photo opportunities before the village chief personally grants you access to the local community. One of the highlights of the trip is watching the herders return with their livestock en masse by sunset, surrounded by the mist created by the smoke the Mundari use to repel mosquitoes - a pleasure and a lot of fun to spend an evening with the Mundari people.

Mundari Camp - Terekeka - Juba
After breakfast, drive to Terekeka, a small town about two hours from the Mundari camp. Visit the Terekeka Cultural Centre to learn more about local culture and traditions, and explore the town's markets and handicrafts. In the afternoon, return to Juba, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring the city or relaxing at your hotel.

Practical travel information for South Sudan
Visa & permits
South Sudan requires an eVisa, best applied for online no earlier than one week before travel. Processing normally takes 24-48 hours.
Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is required for all journeys. We are happy to recommend a suitable policy.
Health & vaccinations
A Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry. Malaria is present in the region - bring repellent and consult a travel clinic before departure.

Bring cash in US dollars; ATMs and card payments are not reliably available outside Juba.
Climate & when to go
The dry season, December to April, offers the easiest travel conditions and the most reliable access to the cattle camps; the tour runs year-round.
